Pueblo de Oro Changes the Landscape of Uptown CDO

For over fifteen years now, the Pueblo de Oro Township, the biggest single location development in Cagayan de Oro City (CDO), has changed the landscape of Uptown CDO following the upbeat construction activities in the city’s new growth area.

In the Pueblo Business Park, ItalPinas has topped off on the 10-storey Primavera Residences Tower A, making it the tallest building in the plateau. Meanwhile, Johndorf Ventures has already completed Granvia Residences and has started construction on their second building. Smaller business owners have also started putting up their buildings in the Township’s commercial areas, including Masterson Mile, Regatta Square and Golden Glow North Commercial.

Residential homes have been mushrooming in Pueblo’s eleven subdivisions, spurred by the homeowners’ recognition of the Township as a desirable and safe location in which to raise a family. Pueblo de Oro Development Corp. (PODC) is also undertaking the construction of house and lot and townhouse units in Forest View Homes and The Courtyards.

The Pueblo de Oro Township is an over 360-hectare mixed-use project sprawled on a plateau overlooking downtown Cagayan de Oro. Masterplanned by renowned urban planners Louis Berger International, Pueblo de Oro follows the concepts of New Urbanism, wherein residents are able to work, go to school and church, and shop only minutes from their own homes and within the metes and bounds of the Township.

In addition, the Township is equipped with its own water supply system with five interconnected wells. An underground pipe system, outfall and evapo-transpiration pond in the valley portion of the Township control the drainage of excess water and help mitigate flooding. Pueblo de Oro Development Corporation (PODC) is also protecting and reforesting the 40-hectare Pueblo de Oro Urban Rainforest at the heart of the Pueblo de Oro Township.

The Township has initiated many milestones of the city. Pueblo de Oro opened the first and only 18-hole championship golf course in CDO. The world-class course was designed by international golf course architect Robert Trent Jones II. The first SM Mall in Northern Mindanao opened in the Pueblo Business Park back in 2002. The Township also boasts the first I.T. Park in the region, with the city’s first major call center, Concentrix, as a locator. PODC also pioneered horizontal condominium development in the city when it launched The Courtyards at Pueblo de Oro. Two of the region’s top educational institutions, Xavier University (Ateneo de Cagayan) and Corpus Christi School, have campuses within the Township.

PODC is opening another cluster in the Pueblo Golf Estates and has other projects in the pipeline to answer to the high demand for housing in Uptown Cagayan de Oro. Outside CDO, Pueblo de Oro has expanded into other key locations such as Cebu, Pampanga and Batangas.
