You know the road from the Rodelsa rotunda leads to Tibasak and Calacala and out to Mandumol going to the airport ---over the bridge, where u can see the washout pipelines of rio verde.
This little road from the rotunda runs parallel to Tomas Saco and opened up low lying areas for housing-- reaching calacala, which is a riverbank accretion facing Balulang.
Alas, as what concerned citizens stressed in their recall movement, this clearly pointed out the crass political gimmickry of the city's political lord who offered with much fanfare these lots for one-peso each to favored city settlers, incredulously happy but totally unaware of the coming disaster.
Almost 5 hectares of sand and earth forming a bend of the Cagayan river over which a torrent made its way, after washing out the steel Maasin bridge below Imbatug, sweeping homes, and whoever lived there, children, dogs, pigs, elderly etc. out to the sea.
You’ve heard of the four Islas,,,,Isla Delta, Isla de Oro, Isla Bugnaw ---now all gone! Thousands floating to Macajalar Bay, some bodies reaching camiguin!
Today, evidence of the deluge still shows in mud and debris but the rest of the city have come to help the needy,,, more work needs to be done--- but as seen by the massive buildings at the former Mindanao Motors site, the Ayalas expect the city to lead Mindanao to the next century!
